Tough Love

I dreamed I was riding on the freeway in a car. Ironically, no one was driving. Instead, I was in the back seat of the car while sitting inside a baby's car seat. I also wasn't buckled inside of the seat.

Suddenly, there arose a huge storm. Amid the storm, while completely comfortable riding in the car inside the baby seat, I suddenly experienced someone ramming the car I was riding in from behind. Suddenly, the car I was in went faster, and I became afraid. I remember hurriedly securing myself with the buckles inside the baby's seat. When I turned around to see the person in the vehicle who was ramming my car, I saw an angry man.

"I'm going to kill you!" the man said. I then began to scream and cry out to God, but God didn't come to rescue me until I verbally spoke his word.

"If God is for me, who can be against me," "Nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus!" "He will keep me in perfect peace, whose minds are stayed on him," I repeatedly yelled out (Romans 8:31-39).

Suddenly, I looked up to the sky and saw Jesus Christ on a white horse, coming with a host of angels to rescue me from the storm. It was in a split second that God snatched me out of the car and took me to a heavenly place where he gave me pills. He told me, "You need meat," while handing me the pills.

As I awoke pondering over what the dream meant, I came to the conclusion that, in reality, I had not been applying the word of God to my life. I was comfortable allowing my emotions to take control, just like a helpless baby. Let alone allowing the enemy to beat up on me.

It wasn't until I began to stand on the word of God that I'd find security and shelter from the storm.

In the end, I can say that through this, God showed me tough love. He didn't baby me or pacify my emotions; he's been teaching me to stand on his word, no longer tolerating my allowing emotions to drive my thought life.

What about you? What storm in your life warrants you to stand on God's word? What scriptures can you use to stand in faith and declare victory?

Hebrews 5:13-14

For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age.
